Starfruit Kombucha not only tastes delicious, but it looks beautiful when rimmed with a slice of the fruit. Originally we anticipated the flavor to be too mild, but were pleasantly surprised to find kombucha actually heightened the starfruit flavor during F2, resulting in a sweet, tangy & crisp taste.
Starfruit also known as carambola is a tropical fruit with a mild, slightly sweet flavor and a texture similar to a grapes. It is a great source of fiber, vitamins C & B, magnesium, potassium, iron & zinc. It has powerful antioxidant properties and includes flavonoids epicatechin, gallic acid & quercetin. While it naturally grows in warmer climates, whenever our local grocery store has them we grab a few!
2-3 slices of starfruit
Add fruit to the bottom of your bottle & pour fresh home-brewed kombucha on top. Fill to the top and seal slightly to promote carbonation. Store in a dark, closed cabinet for 2-4 days.
* Measurements are based off a 16oz glass bottle. Have fun with your flavoring, there is no need to be exact. Increase or decrease ingredient measurements according to your personal preference.
